Alcohol Ink Workshop
Joyful Spring Bluebells
with Milly Moth
Date: Tuesday 21st April
Time: 6.30pm - 9pm
Cost: £45 per person
During the session, Karen (Millie Moth) will guide you through the fundamentals of working with alcohol ink brush pens. You’ll explore how inks flow, blend, and react with alcohol, before learning Karen’s signature splashy technique using fresh spring colours. Working on smooth A5 Yupo paper, you’ll create your own expressive Spring Bluebells artwork.
You’ll receive plenty of guidance and encouragement throughout the workshop, making it suitable for complete beginners as well as those with more creative experience. All materials are provided - just bring yourself and an openness to enjoy the process.
In the final part of the workshop, you’ll complete your A5 Bluebells piece to take home, along with a clearer understanding of alcohol inks and how to continue exploring them independently. The session is designed to be calm, mindful, and creatively freeing.
What you’ll learn:
- An introduction to alcohol ink brush pens and materials
- How inks behave on Yupo paper
- Blending colours and creating soft, organic movement
- Using alcohol to create texture and flow
- Tips and techniques to help you continue experimenting with confidence
All materials included — you’ll leave with your finished A5 Bluebells artwork, new creative skills, and a sense of relaxation from this gentle, inspiring session.
Venue: Alice’s Tea Shop, Main Street, Keyworth
Includes a hot or cold drink + a slice of cake (or similar treat)
Limited places available.
A quick note about materials and safety from Millie Moth:
This workshop is for adults only, and places are limited.
During the session, we’ll be using 91% isopropyl alcohol as part of the painting process. You’ll use it sparingly—dripping a few drops onto your artwork and occasionally spraying a fine mist over the surface. Some people notice the smell (though I’m completely used to it now!), and I’ll do my best to keep the room well ventilated if needed.
There’s also a bit of gentle blowing through a straw involved—just something to keep in mind if you’re prone to breathlessness or lightheadedness. If that sounds tricky, I also provide a small hand-pump blower as an alternative.
While this technique generally isn’t messy, alcohol inks can stain clothing. They’re not harmful if they get on your skin—I’ve had more than my fair share of inky fingers over the years! An apron or old top is a good idea, just in case.
